Experienced, practical, thoughtful partnership

I grew up in Washington DC, and my experience as a K-12 student in the DC Public Schools shaped who I am. The greatest influence on me, however, was my father whose commitment to his city and to civic life showed me the meaning of responsibility, service, integrity, and hard work. These influences proved to me that civic participation, partnership, and education are critical levers in effecting social change and have driven my career in nonprofits, government, and universities.

I served as executive director of a Boston-based advocacy organization, led the Governor's children's cabinet for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and held senior executive roles at two national education nonprofits — Jumpstart for Young Children and Facing History & Ourselves. Facing History & Ourselves reaches hundreds of thousands of teachers and millions of students globally with high quality curriculum and professional development. There I led a team of 85 and oversaw professional development, curriculum and product strategy, evaluation, and thought leadership.

I have built teams, led strategic planning processes, stewarded boards, cultivated funders, navigated hard transitions, and developed leaders at every level. I have made decisions with imperfect information, changed course when the data demanded it, and made it my purpose to lead with honesty, clarity, humility, and compassion.

This consulting practice allows me to bring my experience, perspective, and values directly to organizations as an experienced, practical, thoughtful partner.
